Having a Super Shake for breakfast is a great alternative if you’re pressed for time.

Super Shake

As far as I know I haven’t met anybody who likes waking up early in the morning let alone going to the gym (maybe a couple people) but sometimes it’s the only way that you’ll actually get a workout in.  If you have to hit the gym before work it means you’ll probably have to wake up at like 5 o’clock when everybody is sleeping, still in “la la” land.

I always tell my clients that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for several reasons. For my early morning clients I want them to have the energy to be able to make it through the workout that I planned. That’s why I recommend they have breakfast that adheres to the 5 habits before they workout.

But wait, if you’ve ever trained with me then you know that I’ll make you work your butt off. Though working out that intensely so close to breakfast may end with you showing me what you ate and if you actually followed the 5 habits (only happened once)… and you know me, I totally believe that’s a waste of food.

So you have a training session 6 o’clock the next morning, you were told that you need to have breakfast before your workout but you also know that you have a death circuit that morning and you remembered that nauseating feeling you had from your last workout… What do you do?

You know that popular phrase? It’s in the title. If you can’t eat it, drink it. This can work wonders in the above situation.

By making yourself a Super Shake before your workout it will allow you to have something that isn’t too heavy and easily digestible. You can have it about 30 -45 minutes before your workout and not have to worry about yakking (a synonym for puking, chunder, doing the technicolour) all over the training floor.

If you’re working with me then you know all about this already. Now for any reason you missed it Precision Nutrition has an awesome Super Shake guide to get you started.  Just click HERE and then try making a Super Shake for yourself.

Remember, if you can’t eat it, drink it! Yes, I know you’ve read that already but redundancy can really make it sink in.
